When A Plumber Is A Good Plumber

Most people fix dripping taps as a matter of urgency. Economy is one reason, professionals usually charge a lot for their time that a householder may save a considerable amount of money by doing the job themselves. The second reason might be the thought of having to find a good plumber, then having a complete stranger in their homes. Beyond that chore, plumbing is generally left to plumbers. But, does the plumbing industry deliver the goods? Recently, there has been a revolution in plumbing techniques and requirements. water supplies are under constantly increasing demand, and care and economy has become essential.

Having a carefully planned plumbing system, every household can enjoy the many convinces it offers and at the same time can keep its water consumption down.

-Repairing a dripping tap while it is still in the drop-by-drop stage saves an amazing quantity of water- a slow trickle wastes a bathful of water a day, and a steady stream wastes enough water to meet all the family's daily needs.

-Repairing a faulty float valve in a W.C cisterns will prevent an incessant overflow that can be irritating to hear as well as extremely wasteful of water.

-Replacing an old W.C cistern with a new pan and a cistern designated to save water can reduce water consumption by many litres a day. The double flushing type makes it possible to choose whet ever to use all or only half of the water in the cistern.

-If you have a shower fitted, you can use a fraction of the hot water required for a bath, giving savings both in water consumption and in fuel required for heating

-During winter, turn down the heating just a few degrees and just put a jumper on, happy in the knowledge that you have done the right thing.

Blocked Drains?

What Causes Blocked Drains? Blocked drains are often caused by fat, oil and grease that goes down our drains rather than in the rubbish. Often fat, oil and grease goes down the plughole as a hot liquid. As it cools, it solidifies and can catch on tree roots and rough surfaces in our pipes, gradually causing blockages.

A lot of the time blocked drains and pipes are simply the result of tree roots clogging drains and damaging your plumbing. The old way was to dig up and replace existing pipes and drains.

A new technique is to line them with a new core pipe. The core is manufactured in continuous lengths, eliminating joints and cracks which can lead to root infiltration. The pipe is manufactured from a felt core which is impregnated with a complex polymer resin. The core is then winched or pulled into position and, once set, the resin activates, leaving the new pipe actually stronger than the old!

This enables pipes with diameters from 100mm (4 inch), to 300mm (12 inch), - lengths from 1 metre (3 feet) to 100 metres (100 yards) may be repaired with less disruption and greatly decreased costs

Advantages of Core Lining
1. A more permanent solution to the whole problem, not just temporary relief from symptoms.
2. Core lining technology is suitable for industrial, commercial, domestic and council pipelines.
3. pipes cannot be infiltrated by tree roots.
4. The materials used are extremely strong and abrasion resistant.
5. Plumbing is ready for use within hours - not days.
6. Increased flow characteristics.
7. Eliminates odour problems.
8. Eliminates sewerage leaking into the soil.
9. Stops infiltration of toxins into waterways & surrounding areas
10. When combined with CCTV inspections of drains, pipes and services, this plumbing system beats older methods hands down.

The rehabilitated, lined drains even have better flow, resulting in increased efficiency & strength. Unblocking of drains is now a breeze!
